The Abu Dhabi Women’s Ice Hockey Team, the storms, was formed in October 2010 and has around 25 women who train at least 2 times a week at the Zayed Sports City Ice Rink. The team is head coached by Canadian, Seanna Murphy and made up of mainly local UAE nationals who over a year later have drastically improved their skills in the sport hockey and are excited about the future of the sport for women in the UAE. The National Day Weekend game was the first ever game played in the UAE and a very proud moment for the team.

While the team traveled to Hong Kong last May to compete in their very first games, hosting a game in the UAE and on home ice was very exciting with many family and friends sharing in the occasion. The Storms won in a 5-4 victory against the Camels, an expat women’s team from Dubai. Zayed University students, No. 7 Fatima Al Ali and No. 4 Dana Al Hosani both forwards helped contribute to the win with great offensive presence which included 2 goals by Fatima Al Ali. The next game will be played in Dubai in January.
