Transition to ZU Checklist
The First Week of Classes
Congratulations again and welcome to Zayed University! From the time you find out you are admitted to the start of classes you may find yourself with lots of questions.
This webpage is your Transition to ZU Checklist. It will provide you with information to help you prepare for your first semester. Below you will find links and explanations to commonly asked questions, as well as information about who to contact with other concerns.
Things to do this week:
-
Check your university email account and SAP daily
There are frequent schedule changes that happen in the first two weeks of the semester. If a class is on your schedule you are responsible for attending it. Ensure you are checking your schedule often, especially if you are missing classes, as they may be added by the administration.
Throughout the semester you will be kept informed by the university, your advisor, and professors through email. It is important to check your mail daily and delete unneeded messages. If you do not, your email inbox will fill up, and you will stop sending/receiving emails.

Contact your advisor if you are missing courses
During the first few weeks you need to be responsible about checking for schedule changes. If you have concerns about your schedule or classes disappearing, speak to your advisor, schedule a meeting with them using the Advising & Risk Management (ARM) website, or send them an email.

Visit Blackboard to learn about your classes
Blackboard Learn is a Learnng Management System (LMS) your professors will use to manage your classes. There is an area for each of your courses where you can find the syllabus, class readings, assignments, exams, and your grades. If your course is online, then you will also find information about how to attend class remotely.
At the beginning of the semester it is a good idea to spend time on the website and get familiar with it. Access the website and read the syllabus for each class, so you know what assignments each class has and when they are due.
