Transition to ZU Checklist

The Week Before Classes Begin

Congratulations again and welcome to Zayed University! From the time you find out you are admitted to the start of classes you may find yourself with lots of questions.

This webpage is your Transition to ZU Checklist. It will provide you with information to help you prepare for your first semester. Below you will find links and explanations to commonly asked questions, as well as information about who to contact with other concerns.

Things to-do this week:

  • Begin checking your university email account daily

For security purposes, the university will use your university email account as the primary way to contact you. In order to get personalized responses to your questions, make sure to include your full name and ZU ID number at the end of all email messages. After sending your message, you can expect a response to your emails within 48 hours during the work week.

Here are some key areas to know about:

  • Under the Academics tab
    1. Academic Transcript - Your transcript includes your advisor’s name, a record of your academic history at ZU, as well as a record of transfer credits from other universities.
    2. Degree Audit - This tool will allow you to see what courses are required in order for you to earn your Bachelor’s degree. As you pass courses you will be able to see what courses are still remaining to graduate.
  • Under the Courses tab
    1. Course Projection - Wondering what classes you need to take? The Projection tool is there to guide you.
    2. Course Schedules - Here you can check your course schedule after registering for classes. Please note schedules change often during the first 3 weeks of the semester, and you should check your schedule daily for changes.
    3. Class Attendance - Attendance is a requirement for all students at ZU. Attendance begins the first day of the semester and is recorded throughout the semester. If you miss more than 15% of the class meetings you will be removed from the class and given a failing (WF) grade. Having WF grades can affect your GPA and academic standing at the university.
