Work Scope
Arabic Teaching & Learning K-16 Arabic language teaching and learning currently affects millions of stakeholders in the UAE and around the world. Teachers in the field of Arabic language need to be informed of what works in Arabic and offer them the best training content and professional growth opportunities to give their students the best learning experience available. That experience needs to be enshrined in concepts of tolerance, flexibility and high standards. Engaging in virtual conversations through the Zayed Arabic Institute that are led and backed by research and data will be a driving force behind schools adopting international best practices in K-16 Arabic teaching and learning. |
Arabic Literacy Policy & Strategy Language policy making is the process by which governments and policymakers determine how languages are viewed, used and learned within national communities. Language policy making helps determine language profile needed to meet national priorities. This area of research will present policy makers including ministries of education, curriculum designers and pedagogues with the arguments, conclusions and data needed to make language policies and decisions that will help engage students with the Arabic language and improve learning outcomes. |
Arabic Children’s Literature Arabic Children’s Literature has thrived in the last decade but so much is still unknown to us and needs ground work done. This area of research is concerned with looking closely at the features on Arabic children’s literature to help establish the infrastructure needed for it to thrive and grow both in terms of content and production. Another key area here has to do with books levelling, which we are offering here to bring awareness to the importance of having levelled children’s literature. We will be adding on a regular basis children’s literature titles alongside the main information about them, their readability level and a summary. |
Arabic Teacher Preparation & Training Teacher preparation & training might be the most important piece in the quest to improving teaching and learning across all schools. Numerous studies have shown that without proper teacher preparation and continuous high-quality professional learning, student achievement will regress, and learning will suffer. This will be a core area of research and investigation for the institute in the hope that it will drive policy making and action on the part of high-level decision makers. |
