Challenges

• ZU faces challenges including: absence of a centralised data library, absence of data governance framework, data quality inconsistencies, missing data classification protocols, limited advanced predictive analytics integration, no self-service capability for ad-hoc reporting, high latency in data processing, and reliance on manual data consolidation.

• Data is siloed and unintegrated. Data analysis is ad-hoc and performed by a few individuals.

Data Governance Charter

• Data Governance Initiative is formally initiated at Zayed University.

• Objectives of the Data Governance Program under DASS are defined.

• Key components of Data Governance are established, including Data Catalog, Data Lineage, Data Security, Data Quality, Business Glossary, Data Classification, Policies & Procedures and MDM.

• Current challenges at ZU are discussed, including absence of data security and classification, lack of a data catalog, and unavailability of self-service data discovery.

• Alignment of the DG program with departments and colleges and onboarding users begins.
