Survey Request Procedures, Guidelines and Exclusions

The Zayed University (ZU) community is frequently invited to participate in surveys from both internal and external entities. Over recent years, the volume of survey projects directed at the ZU community has significantly increased, resulting in a noticeable decline in response rates. These surveys encompass internal research initiatives, as well as requests from individuals and organizations external to Zayed University.

To address this issue, Zayed University has introduced a Survey Policy and established a review process to ensure that surveys align with the university's guidelines.

Departments within Zayed University intending to conduct Institutional Surveys*, and External individuals, organizations, and stakeholders seeking to conduct surveys targeting ZU faculty, staff, or students must complete and submit a Survey Request Form at least four weeks prior to the intended start date of the survey.
These survey requests are vetted by the Institutional Surveys Committee (ISC) and/or Research Ethics Committee (REC), depending on the source and type of survey. The respective committee will review the application and respond within five business days of receiving the request. If deemed necessary, the committee may suggest modifications to a survey, specifically if it identifies issues with unclear objectives and schedules, feasibility concerns regarding the survey's implementation, ethical appropriateness, or suitability for the individuals being surveyed.

It's important to note that ZU faculty, staff, or students intending to conduct surveys as part of their academic research* fall under the purview of REC and not ISC. Such requests should be directed to researchethics@zu.ac.ae for information on application procedures.
