Middle States Commission on Higher Education
Zayed University was one of the first independently accredited institutions within the UAE. This accreditation is through the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, one of the six regional accreditation bodies in the United states. The university was first accredited by the MSCHE in 2008. Though the regular self-study review process runs on a ten-year cycle, after initial accreditation institutions are required to complete a full self-study at five years. Zayed University's accreditation was renewed in 2013. Announcement of the renewal of accreditation commended ZU on the exceptional quality of its self-study, a required step for accreditation and reaffirmation. Further, it was stated that ZU met or exceeded all 14 of the standards against which the MSCHE evaluates applicants for accreditation. The Next Mid-Point Peer Review is due in 2019.
UAE Commission for Higher Education (CAA)
The internal quality assurance and accreditation body of the United Arab Emirates, the Commission for Academic Accreditation, licensed (accredited) Zayed University in 2015. As one of three federal higher education institutions, Zayed University had previously been exempted from this national process, but with the 2015 licensure the University has achieved an important milestone.
