Office of Accessibility offers course for Rak Educational Zone

As part of its objective to partner with educational and institutional organizations, the Office of Accessibility, through Khalaf Al Habtoor Assistive Technology Resource Center at Zayed University, is offering Mr. Ahmad Al Akhdar, the Visual Impairment Facilitator in Rak Educational Zone, an intensive IT course. This specialized course consists of training visually impaired individual on using a Mac with its equipped screen reader “VoiceOver”. The built in powerful accessibility feature is a Text- to – Speech (TTs) technology which works with all applications and reads aloud whatever is presented onscreen. Furthermore, this significant Educational Technology course that can be easily used by any student worldwide is in line with the inclusive education policy of the UAE.

Zayed University inaugurates the “Khalaf Al Habtoor Assistive Technology Resource Center”

Bearing the motto “ Helping our students help themselves”, His Excellency Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, President of Zayed University, unveiled the Khalaf Al Habtoor Assistive Technolgy Resource Center in Zayed University Dubai Campus this morning, in the presence of Mr. Khalaf Al Habtoor, Chairman of Al Habtoor Group and sole sponsor of the Assistive Technology Resource Center at Zayed University.

Also present were Dr. Sulaiman Al Jassim, Vice President of Zayed University, Dr. Larry Wilson, Provost of Zayed University, Ms Fatma Al Qassimi, Senior Specialist at Zayed University Office of Accessibility in charge of this initiative, in addition to Zayed University administration, faculty, staff and students.

The Khalaf Al Habtoor Assistive Techonolgy Resource Center at Zayed University will provide special needs students with equal growth opportunities as it will offer them state- of- the- art educational and recreational facilities that enhance their academic, personal, and professional development.
