Higher Education in the Gulf: Research insights in learning and teaching

This academic research symposium, organized by Zayed University in collaboration with UAE University, is linked to the journal "Learning and Teaching in Higher Education: Gulf Perspectives" (ISSN 2077-5504)

The symposium will include plenary talks by local and international researchers, as well as poster presentations, on topics including learning styles, threshold concepts and e-learning.  If you are working to help students learn any subject in a university or college in the Gulf region, this symposium will offer you stimulating and up-to-date information based on research with students like yours, as well as a forum for discussion of learning and teaching strategies.

Global Studies Conference 2009
May 30 - June 1 at Zayed University, Dubai, UAE

The second Global Studies Conference is to be held at Zayed University, Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 30 May to 1 June 2009. It will address critically important issues related to globalization in the world today, as well as focusing on a special theme - The Middle East and 21st Century Globalisation. Plenary Speakers include some of the leading thinkers in global studies, as well as numerous paper, colloquium and workshop presentations.
 

GlobCom Conference
May 24-28, 2008 at Zayed University Abu-Dhabi, UAE

The Global Communication program (GlobCom) involves university students from around the world in a competition to produce the best Public Relations strategy and plan for an international client. Each year students and their professors gather at the end of the project to recognize the winners of the competition and discuss current development in the field of Public Relations. Students from 12 universities will be in Abu Dhabi from May 24-28, 2008. On May 26th, there will be a symposium entitled: "Social Media: Opportunities for Public Relations."

First Annual Undergraduate Research Conference on Applied Computing

Zayed University was pleased to host the First Annual Conference on Undergraduate Research on Applied Computing. The objective of this conference is to promote undergraduate research activity at universities in the UAE by providing a forum for students to present their work and interact with other young researchers, faculty, and industrial leaders. Topics of interest include anything to do with computing.  In addition to student presentations and posters, the conference program will include invited presentations from academia and industry.

Web Services Symposium: The Second UAE Symposium on Web Services

Information Security in a Connected World

What you can’t see, can hurt you was the logo for one of the major events held in the United Arab Emirates in March. The event was organized by the College of Information Technology at Zayed University and FIRST Information Security.

On Monday, March 16, 2009, a seminar entitled Information Security in a Connected World was held at Zayed University Convention Center, in Dubai. This important event was held under the patronage of H.E. Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, President of Zayed University.  Representing His Excellency at the event was Dr. Sulaiman Al Jassim, Vice President of Zayed University.  The one day event that that took place from 10:30 AM to 3:30 PM was attended by representatives from industry, Government, and academia. The attendees included high-level officials from Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

The event included a signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Zayed University and FIRST Information Security, for collaboration on several strategic projects.

The College of Information Technology at Zayed University offers a Master of Science in Information Technology (Specialization in Cyber Security), graduate certificate in Information Security, and graduate certificate in High Technology Crime Investigation.
