Research in the News
The Office of Research seeks to support faculty in their research by providing opportunities to promote their activities and be recognized for their work, establishing Zayed University and its faculty as the primary source for
research in the UAE and the Middle East.
If you would like to have media coverage organized for any research event or information opportunity, please contact research@zu.ac.ae. You are also encouraged to work with the Office of Research to capture photographs of research in action, involving field work, faculty or students.
The External Affairs Department within the university will assist in organizing such media coverage, including photography, and requests a notification period of at least two weeks prior to a planned event. The contact for this Department is ExternalAffairs@zu.ac.ae and the forms required to organize for a planned event are as follows:

Hanging out with Bat Man
Dr Drew Gardner has been taking opportunities to explore and record information about the little known UAE bat population. The level of knowledge here is "very, very poor", he said. "We just don't know anything really about their status, and about any trends or changes in their populations, or what effects insecticide spraying might be having on them. We don't know how long they live, when their breeding seasons are. We don't even know where they roost. Basically, no one has done any real ecological or behavioural studies on them."
