Mobile Learning Research Fund



The Center for Educational Innovation in collaboration with the Office of Research offers Mobile Learning Research Fund (MLRF) grants to full-time faculty and teaching staff to investigate the impact of mobile learning and mobile enhanced pedagogies on student learning.

Eligibility Criteria:

 

All regular faculty or staff who teaching at least one course per year are eligible to apply. A faculty member can only be awarded funding as a principal investigator on one MLRF project at one time. However, a faculty member may be funded as a PI and concurrently involved in another MLRF project as a co-investigator. Collaboration among amongst and between colleges and departments is strongly encouraged.

Award and Funding Cycle:

 

The Mobile Learning Research Fund awards are designed to fund one year projects to a maximum of AED 20,000 per project. The MLRF can fund a maximum of 40 mobile learning projects per year.

The Mobile Learning Research Fund grants are awarded twice per year with up to 20 projects funded in each cycle. The funding cycle begins each fall and spring semester and lasts for one calendar year.

  • Student-centered use of mobile technology and learning
  • Formal and informal learning using mobile technology
  • Ubiquitous learning opportunities
  • Using mobile technology to enhance group collaborative projects
  • Just in time learning with mobile technology
  • Formative Assessment using mobile technology
  • Using Mobile Technology as a data-gathering tool
  • Story-telling using smartphones
  • Cultural identity, smartphones, and learning
  • Pedagogical strategies for mobile enhanced teaching and learning

Submissions:

 

Submissions are accepted using the Mobile Learning Research Fund application. Submissions are sent to the Office of Research andmust be received before the closing date.
