Who are the PALs?

PALs are students who generally have ‘good academic standing' and are willing to support other students who need help with their studies.

For a student to become a PAL, they should ideally be...

  • Good communicators

  • Responsible and dedicated

  • Excellent and active listeners

  • Students who have completed more than two semesters at university

  • Able to show a sympathetic approach to sensitive issues

  • Able to maintain confidentiality at all times

  • Students who have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher

  • From the various departments at Zayed University

Once a student is selected to become a PAL s/he will agree to...

  • Undertake initial training

  • Have regular meetings and training (scheduled/ as needed)

  • Keep records on the tutee

  • Work in the PALs Center from two to four hours per week

  • Work closely with the PALs Coordinator from each Zayed University campus

  • Complete a Personal Development Log
