Lubna Al Qasimi : UAE women achieving more day by day in terms of development and empowerment
27 Aug 2018The UAE women are achieving more day by day in terms of development and empowerment, which enabled them to take the leading position in the international women’s movement, stated Sheikha Lubna bint Khalid Al Qasimi, President of Zayed University.
''Our leadership drew inspiration from the vision of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the late Founding Father, for increasing support for development and empowerment of women so they can assume their aspired national duty as mothers and active partners in the process of nation's building and development,'' Al Qasimi said in a statement on the occasion of the fourth Emirati Women's Day, which is marked on 28th August, under the theme, "Women on the Course of Zayed."
''Sheikh Zayed was keen on empowering women as part of a policy aimed at full empowerment of the community and H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union, (GWU), President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF), advanced and materialised Sheikh Zayed's empowerment vision.'' ''The UAE is firmly committed to enabling and advancing women as part of its national plans to deliver comprehensive development of the community. The state's support for women since the establishment of the GWU resulted in a rapid increase in their role in different positions of responsibility, national work, businesses, charitable works and others,'' Sheikha Lubna said.
She also noted that Sheikha Fatima's support and encouragement to outstanding women have bolstered and expanded their role in serving the local community, increasing their contribution to the nation's development, and achieving more gains.
