Zayed University celebrates the UAE Flag Day
05 Nov 2017Zayed University celebrated the UAE Flag Day on both campuses in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, commemorating the anniversary of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan becoming the president of the UAE in 2004.
Following the directives of H.H Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, H.E Sheikha Lubna bint Khalid Al Qasimi, President of Zayed University, upraised the UAE Flag at the Abu Dhabi Campus alongside hundreds of faculty members, administrators and students during the National Anthem.
Al Qasimi, conveyed sincere remarks to His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE and their Highnesses rulers of the other Emirates, Emirati nationals, and all residents, considering it a day of national pride, unity, and happiness to all.
His Excellency Prof. Dr. Reyadh AlMehaideb, Vice-President of Zayed University, raised the flag up high at the central courtyard in the Dubai campus.
"United under one flag, we celebrate prosperity and success of our wise leadership that tirelessly march, following the path of our founding fathers, towards excellence and being Number One across various fields”, he said.
Manal Awad, President of the Student Council in Dubai, said, "I am proud today to contribute in the Flag Day celebrations, It is a historical day that has shaped our great nation."
The UAE Flag Day is a national occasion launched in 2013 by His Highness Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to honor the country’s past, present and future and remember the efforts of the founders of UAE, the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan and his brothers who sacrificed everything for the sake of their nation. It is a day when the national spirit is renewed, and an occasion to reflect on the achievements of the UAE.
