Her Excellency Sheikha Lubna Al Qasimi, Minister of International Cooperation and Development, President of Zayed University (ZU) highlighted that providing an ideal academic environment is significant to help students achieving academic excellence and be productive members of the Emirati society.

The announcement came during a meeting held with members of the Student Council at ZU, which was attended by Prof. Reyadh AlMehaideb, Vice President of Zayed University and Dr. Marilyn Roberts, the Acting Provost.

“Excellence and distinction are major objectives to achieve strategic goals of UAE government, which aims for number one regionally and globally,” Her Excellency Sheikha Lubna said.

Her Excellency Sheikha Lubna has urged all students to boost their academic performance, invest in teamwork, and build up their leadership capabilities with a strong sense of competitiveness and innovation.

“Following graduation, we do not want to have regular careers, we want to aim for the best, reach higher, and be distinguished. So that Zayed University will be positioned in the frontline of all world education rankings,” she added.

Her Excellency Sheikha Lubna has also praised the significant role of the Peer Assistance Leaders programme (PALs), which is available to encourage distinguished students to help others, who face some obstacles in their academic performance.

“This programme aims to shoulder new responsibilities on distinguished students. You should know that success is individual and collective and it should be accompanied with team spirit,” she told students on the sidelines of the meeting.

“We are obliged to provide high-standards education and social services to all of our students. Thus, different sectors in the country can recall distinguished success stories for Zayed University graduates,” she added.

Additionally, Her Excellency Sheikha Lubna encouraged all students to participate in extracurricular activities and praised the winning of one of Zayed University students at Gulf Championship for Boxing recently.

Professor AlMehaideb has also praised the open dialogues held with Sheikha Lubna, in which she answered students’ questions clearly and listened to their suggestions pleasantly.
