Her Excellency Sheikha Lubna Al Qasimi chairs Zayed University Council meeting

Her Excellency Lubna Al Qasimi, Minister of International Cooperation and Development, President of Zayed University, emphasized during the University Council meeting that was held in Abu Dhabi, that Zayed University is keen to invest its best efforts to ensure that the new generation of students and young cadres are well prepared to keep up with the latest developments through providing them with the best means for ambitious plans that help them realize their academic and professional objectives and enhance their productivity using the latest technology and e-learning methods.

The Council Meeting took place in the presence of Council members: H.E Dr. Amal Abdullah Al Qubaisi, Director General of Abu Dhabi Education Council, and H.E Ali Rashid Al Ketbi, Assistant Secretary-General for Public Administration of the Secretariat of the Executive Council of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of Abu Dhabi Council for Emiratization and H.E Sami Dhaen Qamzi, Director General of the Dubai Department of Economic Development, H.E Mariam Mohammed Al Rumaithi, Director General of the Family Development Foundation and H.E Mubarak Saeed Al Shamsi, Director General of the Abu Dhabi Centre for technical and vocational education and training, as well as Prof. Reyadh AlMehaideb, Vice President of Zayed University.

Amongst the points of discussion during the meeting was the new students’ enrollment, with a total of 9200 students on both campuses, in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, while the number of graduates amounted to 479 on both campuses.

The Council also approved the provisional operational plan for the years 2014-2016 which included federal academic indicators from the Federal Government for the first time.

Prof. Reyadh AlMehaideb, Vice President of Zayed University, announced that Dr. Marilyn Roberts, Dean of the College of Media Sciences, has been appointed as Acting Provost.

The Summer school academic program for 2015 was also approved. Furthermore, the Council approved the establishment of Early Childhood Learning Center (ECLC) on Dubai campus, following the establishment of the ECLC on Abu Dhabi campus.
