Zayed University Council meets approves new disciplines

Zayed University Council held a meeting under the chairmanship of Her Excellency Dr. Maitha AlShamsi, Minister of State and President of Zayed University, and in the presence of the council members, His Excellency Ahmad Humaid Al Tayer, Head of the Supervising Committee over the endowment fund at Zayed University, Her Excellency Dr. Amal Al Qubaisi, First Deputy of Speaker of the Federal National Council, His Excellency Sami Dhaen Qamzi, Director General of Dubai Economic Department, His Excellency Ali Rashid Al Ketbi Chairman of Abu Dhabi Tawteen Council, and His Exellency  Saeed Mubarak Rashid Hajri, Executive Director of Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, and Prof. Abdalla AlAmiri, Provost of Zayed University.

The meeting which was held on Zayed University’s Abu Dhabi campus discussed the introduction of new disciplines pertaining to academic graduate and undergraduate programs, as well as Zayed University’s admission policy.

The University Council confirmed the name change of the degree of “Bachelor of Arts” offered by the College of Arts and Creative Enterprises’ Art and Design major, to “Bachelor of Fine Arts”.  This name change will enable students to further engage in their field of study and consequently their field of work.

The Council also discussed student admmission for the academic year 2014-2015, and approved a policy pertaining to minimum hours of required student attendance at the University.

The name change of “Master of Science in International Business Management” to “Master of Management in International Business”, was as well approved, taking into account that a degree of “Master in Management” is the fastest growing amongst others in the international arena.

The Council also approved the introduction of the new “Marketing and Entrepreneurship” specialization under the “College of Business”, whereas the currently offered “Marketing” specialization will no longer be offered.

Last but not least, the council approved granting diplomas to 900 Zayed University students who graduated in the first and second semesters of the academic year 2012-2013.
