His Excellency Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan, Minister of Culture, Youth, and Community Development, emphasized on the importance of Islamic Waqf (endowment) and its characteristics as a unique association that has noble and social goals, and which has valuable benefits in the Islamic world today. H.E Sheikh Nahayan also shed light on the vital role that Waqf plays in supporting the development of higher education and education in general. He praised the contributions of several businessmen for endowed chairs and professorships at Zayed University, which helps spread the principle of shared responsibility for the development of education, for the greater good of society.
His Excellency Sheikh Nahayan gave a speech where he expressed his appreciation to Mr. Abdul Ghaffar Hussain, an Emirati leader who established a Professorship in Arabic Literature at Zayed University, which highlights his utter commitment to social development and philanthropy in the UAE.
Dr. Sulaiman Al Jassim, Vice President of Zayed University, expressed his appreciation for the contribution of Mr. Abdul Ghaffar Hussain, and said: “This Professorship will promote academic research in the field of Arabic Literature that is offered by the Institute for the Arabic Language at Zayed University, in order to enhance research and empower our graduates with the necessary skills to competently face challenges in the future.”
Mr. Obaid Al Muhairi, Director of Institute for the Arabic Language, Zayed University, said: “The Abdul Ghaffar Hussain Professorship in Arabic Literature is a unique addition to the Institute for the Arabic Language at Zayed University raise awareness about Arabic literature and language.”
