Turkish President Abdullah Gul visits Zayed University's new campus in Abu Dhabi
31 Jan 2012Turkish President Abdullah Gul visited Zayed University's new campus in Abu Dhabi on Monday, January 30, 2012.
Gul and the accompanying delegation were welcomed by His Excellency Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, President of Zayed University, Dr. Sulaiman Al Jassim, Vice President of Zayed University, Dr. Larry Wilson, Provost of Zayed University and other officials.
Gul was accompanied by Turkish Minister of Foreign Affairs Ahmet Davutoglu, Minister of Finance Mehmet Simsek, and the UAE's Minister of Economy Sultan Saeed Al Mansouri who was heading the honorary mission accompanying President Gul, Ambassador of the UAE to Turkey Khalid Khalifa Al Mualla, Ambassador of Turkey to the UAE Sefik Vural Altay, and other VIPs and Turkish businessmen.
President Gul stated that ties between Turkey and the UAE are getting stronger by the day, as the UAE has clearly become a notable partner of Turkey economically and culturally. Gul said these ties will also strengthen between the Emirati and Turkish academic institutions and mutual cooperation on scientific research.
His Excellency Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan shared Zayed University's plans with President Gul and stated that these reflect the interest of the UAE's leaders in continuously developing the country's education system. Sheikh Nahayan also noted that President Gul's visit evidently enhances the standing relations between the UAE and Turkey.
