His Excellency Sheikh Nahayan Attends The iPad Executive Briefing at Zayed University
25 Sep 2012His Excellency Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan, Minister of Higher Education& Scientific Research, President of Zayed University, stated that e-learning tops the priority list of the UAE education development strategy, especially in light of the National initiative to distribute 14,000 iPads amongst new students enrolled in Zayed University, UAEU and HCT.
This statement was presented during the Apple Executive Briefing that took place on Zayed University Abu Dhabi Campus in the presence of John Couch, Apple’s Vice President of Education, Dr. Sulaiman Al Jassim, Vice President of Zayed University, Dr Abdulla Al-Khanbashi, Vice Chancellor of UAEU, Dr. Tayeb Kamali, Vice Chancellor of HCT, in addition to other official representatives.
His Excellency Sheikh Nahayan mentioned that massive efforts were invested by all 3 institutions for this first-of-its-kind initiative to see the light. The main corporation with Apple allowed for the right content and applications to be embedded onto the students’ ipads and also allowed for the faculty to get thoroughly trained in regards to new methods of using advanced technology to deliver the best quality of education to students in the UAE.
His Excellency Sheikh Nahayan extended heartfelt thanks and words of appreciation to His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE and ruler of Abu Dhabi, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai and General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and greatly praised their wise leadership and unwavering support, not only on the educational front but on all fronts.
The Briefing also included a number of workshops moderated by Apple’s group of experts and education specialists, whereby they showcased the most recent educational iPad applications, provided technical support as needed, and stressed on the importance of providing student and faculty training to ensure optimized benefits.
