British Prime Minister David Cameron visits Zayed University Campus in Abu Dhabi
06 Nov 2012H.E Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, President of Zayed University, welcomed British Prime Minister David Cameron to Zayed University’s Abu Dhabi Campus yesterday. Also present were Sheikh Shakhbout bin Nahyan Al Nahyan, Dr. Anwar Mohammed Gargash, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Dominic Jermey, the British Ambassador to the UAE, Dr. Sulaiman Al Jassim, Vice President of Zayed University, Dr. Larry Wilson, Provost of Zayed University, and a number of officials, Zayed University faculty and students.
The British Prime Minister shed light on the opportunities offered to British professionals to live and work in the UAE, and the opportunities offered to Emirati students to further explore their learning opportunities in the UK, all of which strengthens mutual cooperation between the UAE and the UK. He also added that Zayed University is a fantastic university where different cultures and experiences can meet to build intellectuals.
He shed light on the main aim of universities, which is to encourage fresh ideas and challenges as we are now living in a very competitive globe, and it is only by education that individuals are able to develop and prosper both personally and professionally. He also mentioned that Zayed University students have enormous activities and opportunities to become extraordinary individuals and national leaders.
Cameron hailed the historical and deep-rooted relations between the UK and the UAE, and said that his visit is aimed at developing the relations in the best interests of both nations and people.
He then browsed around the main Courtyard and the Library accompanied by H.E Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan, where he communicated with Zayed University students on campus.
