Zayed University Launches a Campaign to Raise Funds for Victims of Haiti

Dr.Sulaiman AlJassim, Vice President of Zayed University, launched a fund raiser for victims of the devastating earthquake in Haiti. The event was organized in both Abu Dhabi and Dubai campuses, in collaboration with Red Crescent. A special ceremony was held for this occasion at Dubai Campus in the presence of Safia Saeed Al Raqbani, Chief Development Officer at Zayed University, and a number of faculty members, administrators, students of Zayed University from different and colleges.

Safia Al Raqbani explained that the campaign will go on for a week in Abu Dhabi and Dubai campuses with the participation of students and their families. This event is part of a series of campaigns and voluntary and humanitarian programs organized by the university for different occasions, such as helping victims of wars and natural disasters around the world and participating in social events. Our vision is to extend our hands to people in need from all over the world to build a connection with people regardless of their faith or language.

Al Raqbani added that the devastating earthquake in Haiti that left a massive destruction and thousands of victims requires great efforts from all of us, whether individually or as institutions. She also praised the huge amount of aid that the Red Crescent Society has provided to the victims of Haiti and the effort they have put in facing the difficulties and risks of delivering them to the victims.

Al Raqbani expressed that Zayed University is always keen to raise awareness among the students of the importance of participating in charity work and volunteer for community service. The university supports all kinds of campaigns, events and activities in cooperation with different institutions and organizations to support charitable work, whether it was in the UAE or abroad. The university seeks to open programs that include courses on the culture of voluntary work since there has been a great interest from students in that area.
