MoU between the Ministry of Education and Zayed University regarding the Enrollment of Special Needs Students

His Excellency Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan, Minister of High Education and Scientific Research, President of Zayed University, attended the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Zayed University and the Ministry of Education which consolidates cooperation aiming at facilitating the enrollment of students with special needs in Zayed University in order to integrate them in the educational institutions.
Dr. Sulaiman Al Jassim, Vice-President of Zayed University, and His Excellency Ali Mehad Al Suwaidi, Acting Director General of the Ministry of Education, have both signed the MOU at Zayed University, Dubai campus, in the presence of many educational leaders.
The MOU intends to facilitate the transfer and acceptance procedures of students with special needs within universities for the purpose of to inclusion in educational institutions and for the purpose of utilizing and sharing mutual experiences and capabilities based on the missions and objectives of the Ministry of Education and Zayed University.
Dr. Al Jassim has highly praised this initiative which reflects positively in the enrollment process of specials need students in Zayed University, indicating the keenness of the Ministry of Education to provide all possible means to embody these objectives in line with the wise vision the UAE leadership in providing care and support to integrate the special needs students in the various educational institutions as well as to provide them with work opportunities and stability in their life.
H.E. Ali Al Suwaidi highly appreciated the role of Zayed University in developing education and providing community services to its student population. The MOU, added His Excellency, comes in the framework of the strategic partnership between both parties, in accordance with the Federal Law No. 29 of 2006 concerning rights of people with special needs and for the purpose of facilitating their transfer and/or acceptance procedures into educational institutions.
Fatma Al Qassimi, Senior Specialist, Office of Accessibility, at Zayed University indicated that the Ministry will provide the University with the names of special needs students in high school level in order to identify their desire to enroll in Zayed University at the end of the school year and to provide the University with their requirements and needs by case. The Ministry shall determine the visit timing to secondary school to explain to students with special needs the procedures of enrolling at the University and means to benefit from the various educational and practical services available.
