Zayed University participated in the 10th annual Careers Show in conjunction with TANMIA, Higher Colleges of Technology, UAE University and Dubai World Trade Centre. The three-day show was opened by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Minister of Finance.
The aim of the Career Show is to support UAE nationals through the participation of many organizations and businesses. The Show attracts thousands of people, as the number of visitors last year alone exceeded 17 thousand visitors from across the UAE. Vice- President of Zayed University, Dr. Sulaiman Al Jassim said, Zayed University's participation as a key partner along with major institutions is part of the university's interest in providing employment opportunities for its graduates. Such events play a vital role in strengthening the relationships between organizations, public and private sectors, and universities in the UAE in order to support Emiratization by providing job opportunities and good education in accordance to the market needs, which is emphasized by His Excellency Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan, Minister of Higher Education & Scientific Research, President of Zayed University, in his guidance and follow-up of universities and institutions of higher education in the country that provide educational programs to achieve this goal.
Zayed University is seeking to organize career fairs in both Abu Dhabi and Dubai Campuses, as well as hold seminars and meetings in partnership with business and organizations. The events were organized by the students and alumni, under the supervision of professors and specialists, to achieve a set of objectives, including; train students to participate in organizing various events, promote their scientific and cultural experiences, and build their relationship with institutions and other sectors. These events helped the employment of graduates in different organizations and opened opportunities of internships for students, added Dr. Al Jassim.
Moaza Al Marri, Manager - UAE National Development at Zayed University, said the university's contribution to the Career Show is to attract UAE nationals for training and employment according to their majors and market needs. The Career Show has attracted nearly 110 organizations from different market sectors. Zayed University also had a booth at the Career Show where the volunteers presented the academic programs for both graduate and undergraduate degrees. The booth also aimed to attract males to work and study at the university since the university will be open to male students in Dubai campus starting next academic year. The university applies best-practice global education which contributed to the achievement of the Middle States Commission on Higher Education Accreditation and Zayed University was the first university in the Middle East and outside the USA to obtain this accreditation.
