In the frame of a courtesy visit to the ZU Dubai campus, a high American academic delegation headed by Dr. Mark Emmert, President of the University of Washington, and formed of 20 deans, professors, experts and consultants from about twenty colleges of the University paid visit to the ZU Dubai campus. Dr. Emmert praised the advanced level of Zayed University students' knowledge and interest in global, regional and local issues, which reflects the interest and keenness of the country's leadership to prepare its young generations to participate in the development process taking place across the United Arab Emirates and expressed his appreciation as to the UAE support of the education of girls who seek the highest levels of education while maintaining their authenticity and identity. At a joint session, the American delegation discussed different aspects of professional and academic cooperation between Zayed University and the University of Washington in the presence of Dr. Daniel Johnson, ZU Provost and a number of deans, faculty and non-faculty members as well as university students.
The U.S. delegation was briefed on the academic programs offered at Zayed University to prepare students academically and practically to participate in the development plans of the state according to the needs of labor markets and requirements and the objective of Zayed University which, since its inception, focused on quality and academic excellence and attracted faculty and administrative members of distinct competencies and expertise.
Provost Johnson pointed out the outstanding educational and academic status of Zayed University, especially after acquiring the academic accreditation by the Middle East States Commission on Higher Education, as the first university in the Middle East and outside the U.S.to achieve such stand, which reflects the keenness of the University to achieve educational excellence with the support and follow-up of HE Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak A lNahayan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, President of Zayed University.
The delegation was also briefed on the undergraduate programs offered by the ZU five colleges: Arts & Sciences, Business Sciences, Communication and Media Sciences, Education and Information Technology ,as well as the graduate degree programs for Executive Master in Health Care Administration, Public Administration, Master of Arts in Design, Executive Masters in Health Care Administration, Master of Science in Finance, Master of Science in Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Master of Science in International Business, Master of Arts in Tourism Communication, Master of Education in Educational Leadership and in Special Education, in addition to the Graduate Certificate Programs in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, High Technology Crime Investigation and in Information Security.
The delegation was also informed of the scholarship programs and student exchanges with international universities to gain experience and communicate with international cultures.
On the other hand, the U.S. delegation praised the ZU state-of-the-art level campus and expressed hope to forge further cooperation between the University of Washington and Zayed University in the academic and research areas, as well as the exchange of delegations and participation in conferences and youth forums.
