U.S. Congress delegation visits Zayed University in Dubai

On the sidelines of its visit to the United Arab Emirates, Dr. Sulaiman AlJassim, Vice-President of Zayed University received the US congress delegation at the headquarters of ZU Dubai campus in the presence of Dr. Bob Cryan, Associate Provost for Academic & International Affairs, Dr. Thomas Cochran, Executive Advisor to the Vice-President and Provost, and Safia Saeed AlRaqbani, ZU Chief Development Officer.
The U.S. delegation was informed about the academic programs offered at the university which enable the students to participate in the development plans of the state based on the needs and requirements of the market. Dr. AlJassim pointed out that, since its inception, Zayed University has been focusing on quality and excellence by founding an advanced technology and attracting high qualified administration and faculty members of distinct competencies, expertise and various cultures and through the periodic review and evaluation system of sectors and projects the university has established in pursuit of continual improvement and development.
The Vice-President noted that the delegation was briefed on the university undergraduate programs, in literature, art & design, international studies and health sciences (health, environment, health education and healthy food), as well as on the different Bachelor degrees in information Systems and Technology Management, Communication & Media Sciences, Technology & Education, as well as on the graduate degree programs in Executive Master in Healthcare Administration, Public Administration, Master of Arts in Design, Executive Masters in Business Administration, Master of Science in Finance, Master of Art in Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Master of Science in International Business and Master of Arts in Tourism Communication and Educational Leadership, in addition to the Master of Education in Special Education, along with the Graduate Certificate in Information Security and in High Technology Crime Investigation. Dr. AlJassim pointed out to the educational and academic status of Zayed University, especially after acquiring the academic accreditation by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, being the first university in the Middle East and outside the U.S. to realize such achievement, as the result of ZU endeavor to apply the recognized international standards in its academic programs, teaching methods, facilities, equipment, as well as administrative and financial rules, recruitment standards, performance appraisal and other criteria to achieve the outputs of educational excellence.
Moreover, the delegation was notified of the scholarship programs and student exchanges with international universities to gain experience and communicate with the different cultures and peoples.
On the other hand, the U.S. delegation praised the manifestations of development they witnessed during their visit to the country as well as the ZU state-of-the-art premises, which reflects the interest of the state's leaders to prepare their children to participate in the national development process. The delegation expressed their hope to forge further cooperation between American universities and Zayed University in the academic and research areas, student exchange of delegations and participation in conferences and youth forums for dialogue on global issues.
