Zayed University has joined as the technical sponsor of the recently hosted 28th IEEE International Conference on Electronics Circuits and Systems at Sofitel Dubai the Obelisk. The four-day show focused on the design and innovation aspect of the circuits and systems space.
With this year's theme of Security of Microelectronic Circuits and Systems, the convention welcomed top executives from Europe, Africa and the Middle East and also hosted a virtual channel for those facing travel restrictions.
Dr. Fatma Taher, Assistant Dean for Research/Outreach - College of Technological Innovation at Zayed University, General Chair of the Conference and Chair of the IEEE UAE section, said: “Hosting the IEEE ICECS 2021 in Dubai will create a stage for researchers, scholars and students in UAE as well as other nationals to exchange their ideas. Hosting this major conference in Dubai brings forward some of the brightest minds to the Middle East and helps transform our world towards a brighter the future. The ICECS conference gives researchers in the UAE and the region a great opportunity to review research topics relevant to the field they are interested in, also give them a possibility to publish research in Scopus, IEEE Explorer, and other research platforms.”
Keynote speaker, Prof. Yehia Massoud, Professor and Director of the Innovative Technologies Laboratories (ITL) at the Computer, Electrical and Mathematical Sciences Division at KAUST. Said: “The rapid advancement in embedded systems and mobile telecommunications technologies have led to a drastic increase of Internet-of things (IoT) devices and the emergence of a variety of smart city applications. In such heterogeneous and ubiquitous networks, automated collaboration among IoT devices and their users become a necessity to leverage the potential of the connected crowd and foster novel services in different smart city domains.”
Faisal Ameer Malik, Chief Technical Officer Huawei Enterprise Business Group, Middle East Solution Sales & Marketing Dept. pointed at Huawei’s 5G Cloud & AI transforming industry and society around them, as well as Huawei’s contribution to research and development and industry implementation of these technologies.
Dr. Saeed Aldhaheri a thought leader, author and a public keynote speaker, highlighted How Organizations Can Build and Deploy Responsible AI Applications, “Responsible development and deployment of Artificial Intelligence applications are expected to fundamentally disrupt many industries and the way government and businesses operate. Organizations can successfully deploy responsible AI applications to adapt a new ecosystems, governance and culture that is much needed within organizations to achieve competitive advantage.”
Field experts have engaged in multiple topics ranging from the Circuits & Systems for Internet of Things IoT, Neural Networks, Machine & Deep Learning, as well as Biomedical & Bio-Inspired Circuits & Systems, Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning, smart electronics and sensors.
The event has also hosted The Women in the Circuits and Systems (WiCAS) meet, where a panel discussion titled “Empowering Women in Technical Roles” took place, highlighting successful women in the field of engineering and technology, workshops, aiming to provide a thrilling environment and inspiration for ladies in the technology sector. The event has also included a room for the ladies to have practical experience in some soft skills like practicing resilience, personal branding, CV writing. They all had the chance to network, interact with their peers, meet with experts in the fields.
