Zayed University Student Hamdan Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum Award for Distinguished Academic Performance

ZU College of Sustainability Sciences and Humanities student Maryam Mohammed Al Abdool was named one of the Hamdan Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum 2014 Award winners for the “Distinguished Academic Performance” category.

Maryam has excelled academically and professionally since she joined Zayed University, and her accomplishments allowed her to participate in the award nominations this year.

Maryam is a Zayed Scholar and an active contributor in valuable student activities and initiatives; she has represented the UAE at the “Young Leaders Forum” which was held in KSA in 2008, and has earned a Student Leadership Diploma form Oxford University in the same year.  She also represented the UAE at the “2nd International Universities Arabic Debating Championship” in Doha, Qatar in 2013, and is currently heading the Arabic Language Club at Zayed University, while also offering guidance and mentorship to fellow Zayed University students as one of the PALs.

Zayed University Provost, Prof. Abdalla AlAmiri, expressed Zayed University’s great pride with Maryam’s accomplishment, and stressed on the fact that Zayed University is firmly committed to the instructions of Her Excellency Sheikha Lubna Bint Khaled Al Qasimi, Minister of Development and International Cooperation, President of Zayed University, and is continually striving to attain even higher standards of student success.
