Zayed University Hosts the "Emirati Young Women Entrepreneur Leadership Forum"

Under the patronage of H.H Sheikha Latifa Bint Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Board Member Emirates Literature Foundation, Zayed University hosted the “Emirati Young Women Entrepreneur Leadership Forum” which addressed the role of women leaders in the development of the entrepreneurial spirit in the United Arab Emirates, on its Dubai campus. The conference aimed to inspire, educate and encourage female ZU students to become future global leaders in the United Arab Emirates and the broader Gulf Cooperation Council countries. It also provided students with an opportunity to connect with distinguished UAE business and to learn from their experiences.

During the conference, Her Highness Raja Al Gurg, Managing Director of the Easa Saleh Al Gurg Group, and Board Member of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry addressed a keynote speech. ArabianBusiness.com listed H.H Raja Al Gurg as the fifth most powerful Arab woman in 2012. She was also awarded the 2011 Woman of the Year Award, during the Third Middle East Women Achievement Awards in 2011,

H.H Raja Al Gurg also holds a number of positions with other companies and organizations. She is the President of the Dubai Business Women's Council and a Board Member of the Dubai Women Association. She is a member of the Dubai Government's Economic Council, Federation of the UAE Chambers of Commerce and Industry Business Women Committee, and the Arab International Women’s Forum. She also serves as the President of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry Business Women Committee, and as the Deputy Chairperson of the Dubai Medical Authority.

Dr. Asma Obaid, Director of Office of Students Affairs at Zayed University said: “The conference that is collaboratively organized by the Office of Student Affairs and the College of Business is the first of many conferences to follow, pertaining to the role of women leaders in the development of the entrepreneurial spirit in the United Arab Emirates.”

“The conference included discussion group activities that touched on the development methods of entrepreneurial skills amongst young leaders, and shed light on several ZU students success stories as entrepreneurs. These students started off from the annual Zayed University Carnival and gradually grew their businesses in local and global markets”, she added.
