U.S. Congressional Delegation Visit Zayed University in Dubai

U.S. Congressional delegation visited  Zayed University in Dubai as part of their visit to the UAE. The delegation included Don Sisson, Legislative Director, House of Representatives, Committee on Rules, Phil Park, Chief of Staff to Senator George V. Volnovich, Ohio, Nien Su, Republican Staff Director for the Subcommittee on Asia, the Pacific and Global Environment, House Committee on Foreign Affairs, Lale Mamaux, Chief of Staff for Congressman Alcee L. Hastings, Florida, and Ian Fergusson, Specialist in International Trade Relations, Congressional Research Service (Research arm of the Library of Congress, Washington, DC). The group was welcomed by Dr. Daniel Johnson, Zayed University Provost, and a number of deans, senior administrators, faculty members and students.

Dr. Sulaiman Al Jassim, Vice-President of Zayed University, said the delegation were introduced to the academic programs offered at the university that prepare students to participate in the development plans of the country in the future, according to the market needs. Zayed University focuses on quality and excellence, where it has built a strong foundation in both the administration and education. The university attracted competent and experienced faculty and staff from various areas and cultures around the world. Under the guidance of His Excellency Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan, Minister of Higher Education & Scientific Research, President of Zayed University, the university has put systems for review and evaluation on all sectors and projects in pursuit of continuous development and improvement.

The delegates were introduced to the University's academic programs which includes the Bachelor of Arts and Sciences in  Art and Design, International Studies, Health Sciences as well as majors in Business Sciences,  Information Technology, Communication and Media Sciences, Education, Information Security and I.T. Also Masters programs, which consist of Health Care Administration, Public Administration, Business Administration, Finance, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, International Business, Tourism Communication, Education Leadership,  Special Education, and Cyber Security.

Dr. Daniel Johnson praised the qualifications of the education at Zayed University, especially after being the first university in the Middle East and outside the USA to obtain the Middle States Commission on Higher Education Accreditation.

The American delegation praised the manifestations of cultural renaissance that they observed during their visit to the UAE which underlines the keenness of the UAE leaders in developing the country in all fields and their concern in education considering it a key element in preparing qualified generations who can face future challenges.
