Zayed University Commences Its Voluntary Work At Al Halah Primary School

Zayed University students commenced the university's social campaign at Al Halah Primary School in Fujairah yesterday morning in the presence of Dr. Sulaiman Al Jassim, Vice-President of Zayed University, Safia Saeed Al Raqbani, Chief Development Officer at Zayed University, a number of faculty and staff, 30 Zayed University students and members of Zayed Environmental Impact Network (ZEIN). Al Halah Primary School is the first project of the social campaign which will include maintenance of the building and improving the learning facilities.

The aim of the project is to create a pleasant school environment for students to practice their learning and sporting activities, especially for students in remote areas where the school is the educational and social center for the resident's of that area. The project was organized by at Zayed University in partnership with Abu Dhabi Council For Economic Development, Emaar Industries and Investments, Dessert Group, East Coast Contracting and Trading and Fujairah Building Industries (FBICO), National Bank of Fujairah, Diyar International Private School and Al Maktoum Foundation 

Dr. Al Jassim praised the initiative the university took to organize this campaign with the slogan "United in Responsibility" which has been inspired by UAE Vision 2021 of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, and Their Highnesses the Rulers of the Emirates. The campaign encourages voluntary work and social contribution which Zayed University embodies through its academic programs that allows students to share their ideas and creativity through various activities with the support and guidance of His Excellency Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan, Minister of Higher Education & Scientific Research, President of Zayed University.

Safia Al Raqbani expressed her appreciation for the efforts of the students and the organizing committee which includes Dr. Asma Obaid, Student Affairs and Cultural Counselor, Enas El Agami, Humaid Al Shamsi and Muna Abdulkarim, who have supported the students in collaboration with the sponsors.

Dr. Usama Al Alami, Associate Professor at the College of Arts and Sciences at Zayed University and co-chair of ZEIN, said that ZEIN is contributing to the campaign in collaboration with Masafi Mineral Water Company. 15 containers have been provided for the school to be used for recycling plastic which will be collected by Masafi. An awareness campaign on the benefits of recycling will be prepared for the students and staff at the school as well as a competition for the students on collecting waste and dividing it into categories of paper, plastic, metals and glass.
