August 2015 – Present
Associate Professor
I am developing and teaching graduate and undergraduate courses in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science. Active researcher with high-impact publication records in artificial intelligence, Machine learning, natural language processing, and data science. In addition to my research, teaching, and service role, I hold an admin position as a graduate program coordinator for the Master of Science in Information Systems Management at Zayed University.
-
April 2014 – August 2015
Research Scientist, IBM CANADA
My work involved research, design, and development. I implemented a software system using artificial intelligence along with remote sensing algorithms. The objective of the product is to explore the existence of Mineral Discovery using a topographic mapping from NASA. This product has been implemented successfully by using automatic mapping of lineaments using shaded relief images derived from digital elevation models (DEMs) based on Cloud Computing. In this contribution, I built an intelligent software system using AI/ML and big data in Java to automatically extract multidirectional lineaments from (Shuttle Radar Topography Mission) SRTM data provided by NASA and detect the locations of the mineral resources in the area. The product enables companies to have up-to-date digital information that facilitates the identification of mineral resources and reducing economic costs and risk.
-
October 2013 – May 2014
Research Scientist, UNIVERSITY OF NEW BRUNSWICK, CANADA
Developed a system in Java using natural language processing (NLP), machine learning, and text mining for social media monitoring in which involves sentiment analysis and exploring and obtaining most trending topics. The goal of this product was to listen through social media to what people are saying about the person.
-
June 2012 – October 2013
Research and development Software Engineer, SALESFORCE COMPANY, CANADA
Developed an intelligent searching engine called a Meme Engine which uses machine learning and text mining techniques. Many companies worldwide have used the project to determine the impact of their products and services by analyzing customers' opinions and sentiments. In addition, I accomplished several software engineering tasks, which included software development in Java, website services, and databases
-
October 2010 – May 2012
Research Associate, NATIONAL RESEARCH COUNCIL OF CANADA
I developed a new machine learning and classification technique to identify the risk of high radiation exposure levels in patients. My contribution had contributed significantly to the overall project's success. I developed a classification algorithm to identify and predict the risk of CT and x-ray radiation on the human body. The project has recently been licensed and commercialized by Agfa Health Care.
