The Master of Education in Educational Leadership and Administration program is designed to meet the needs and interests of school-based leaders and those aspiring to lead within an academic context, such as principals, vice-principals, and cluster managers.
Designed on an outcomes-based learning model, the program ensures that principal-candidates graduate with the ability to apply best practice in educational leadership to meet the changing needs of society in the 21st century. To achieve successful student learning, a leader’s work in education includes implementing evidence-based practice, ongoing teacher development, and actively engaging parents and community partners.
Central to the vision of Zayed University’s College of Education is the belief that moral, ethical, and professional leadership is essential to the transformation of any education system. This vision aligns with the goal of the United Arab Emirates to ensure quality education for all U.A.E. nationals.
Graduate Student Reflection
Bearing the name of the great leader H.H. Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, I was confident that Zayed University is striving to high standards of expectations and quality education. I chose to study at Zayed University because of its international accreditations and the fact that the program allowed me to specialize in my specific areas of interest. Given my aspirations to excel in educational leadership and administration, I believed the program would empower me to meet my personal goals. The structure of the program was also one of my key reasons to enrol in the program. Classes were scheduled to minimize time away from work and family while also facilitating quality interaction time with faculty and fellow students. Class instruction was a blended mix of face-to-face class instruction and online teaching materials. The cohort structure allowed our group members to collaborate and have a truly supportive network. Faculty used diverse and innovative teaching methods that inspired us to think critically and solve problems. We were also encouraged to collaborate with community partners to understand “real-life issues” in our chosen field of specialization. The program motivated us to reflect on our prior knowledge and experience in education to develop and refine skills that would in future days enable us to implement best practices in the context of the U.A.E and internationally. I believe that the program did therefore develop fellow class participants and I into well-rounded thinkers and thus prepared us to help solve complex questions facing school administrators in 21st century education. To summarize, I do feel privileged for the valuable experiences I had as a graduate student of Zayed University and for the research skills and personal development that I derived from this program. |
