A candidate who is admitted to a graduate program will receive an official “Offer of Admission” notification via their official Zayed University e-mail address which includes all admission details. Admission decisions are not subject to appeal.

Regular Admission

Except where restricted by further program level requirements, the minimum requirements for regular admission to a graduate program by meeting the following minimum requirements at the time of admission:

1. Academic Requirements 

A. Graduate programs offered in Arabic and English

  • An earned baccalaureate degree in a discipline considered appropriate to the graduate program from an accredited university recognized by the UAE Ministry of Education with a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 point scale or equivalent.

2. Language Requirements 

A. Graduate programs offered in Arabic

  • A TOEFL score of 133 CBT, 45 iBT, OR

  • An IELTS (Academic) overall band score of not less than 4.5, OR

  • 950 on the EmSAT English examination; OR

  • Evidence that the applicant is a native speaker of English who has completed his/her undergraduate education in an English medium institution in a country where English is the official language, AND

  • 1100 on the EmSAT Arabic examination.

B. Graduate programs offered in English 

  • A TOEFL score of 213 CBT, 79 iBT, OR

  • An IELTS (Academic) overall band score of not less than 6.0, OR

  • 1400 on the EmSAT English examination, OR

  • Evidence that the applicant is a native speaker of English who has completed his/her undergraduate education in an English medium institution in a country where English is the official language. 

Conditional Admission

Except where restricted by further program level requirements, an applicant who does not qualify for regular admission may be eligible for conditional admission by meeting the following minimum requirements at the time of admission:

1. Academic Requirements

A. Graduate programs offered in Arabic and English

  • An earned baccalaureate degree in a discipline considered appropriate to the graduate program from an accredited university recognized by the UAE Ministry of Education with a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 point scale or equivalent.

A conditionally admitted student:

  • May take a maximum of nine (9) credit hours in the first semester of study; and,

  • Must achieve a minimum of CGPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale in the first  nine (9) credit hours in the credit-bearing courses studied for the graduate program.

A conditionally admitted student who fail to meet the aformentioned requirements will be dismissed from the graduate program.

2. Language Requirements 

A. Graduate programs offered in English

  • A TOEFL score of 197 CBT, 71 iBT, OR

  • An IELTS (Academic) overall band score of not less than 5.5, OR

  • 1250 on the EmSAT English examination.

A conditionally admitted student:

  • Must meet the English language requirement for regular admission by the end of the student’s first semester of study;

  • May take a maximum of six (6) credit hours in the first semester of study, not including intensive English courses; and,

  • Must achieve a minimum of CGPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale in the first six (6) credit hours in the credit-bearing courses studied for the graduate program.

A conditionally admitted student who fail to meet the aformentioned requirements will be dismissed from the graduate program.
