New Fairytales & Fables from the UAE
2nd ANNUAL WRITING COMPETITION for SCHOOLS
New Fairytales & Fables from the UAE Writing Competition (“NF&F”) is an Emirati cultural literacy project and reading literacy initiative that launched last year with the financial support of the Ministry of Presidential Affairs; in partnership with Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding and the ZOWD Cultural Establishment. The project evolved from a classroom initiative into a way of keeping traditional storytelling from the Emirates alive, while promoting national identity for future generations.
We expanded this NF&F to celebrate the Year of Reading through our outreach to schools across the UAE and are delighted to host the second year’s event. Utilizing the New Fairytales & Fables from the UAE guidelines for writing Emirati stories and the “We Are Writers” free publishing platform, we hope to inspire a new generation of authors by encouraging each participating school to celebrate and publish the work of each student writer in a co-branded schoolbook of original fables and fairytales written by your students.
Integrating Scholastic Publishers (the 12th largest global publishing powerhouse), “We Are Writers” initiative provides multiple benefits to participating schools including a free co-branded book, reward points towards the receipt of over 3,000 titles that can be added to the school’s libraries and fundraising opportunities.

Hold your internal writing contest.

Submit your winning writers' registration form and stories by May 7th, 2017 at www.uaefairytales.com
