< Professor Clayton MacKenzie (Provost & Chief Academic Officer) holds master’s degrees in Curriculum Studies (Glasgow) and Business Law (London), and a doctorate in Shakespeare (Glasgow). He has led major academic units in London, Hong Kong, and Adelaide. He joined Zayed University in 2021, having served as Provost and Acting President at Hong Kong Baptist University prior to that. A novelist and playwright, Professor MacKenzie’s research focuses on performance, iconography, and early modernism, while his publications span areas from literature and creative writing to law and higher education policy. He has produced 79 refereed publications, including two novels, three monographs, and a play performed at the Royal Court Theatre, London.
