Internationally Zayed University is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE), one of six regional accrediting bodies in the United States. The university was first accredited by the MSCHE in 2008. Though the regular self-study review process runs on a ten year cycle, after initial accreditation institutions are required to complete a full self-study at five years. Zayed University's accreditation was renewed in 2013. Announcement of the renewal of accreditation commended ZU on the exceptional quality of its self-study, a required step for accreditation and reaffirmation. Further, it was stated that ZU met or exceeded all 14 of the standards against which the MSCHE evaluates applicants for accreditation. The reaffirmation is good for five years with a periodic review report due in 2018.
