Ways to Adjust Fear and Anxiety of Coronavirus
We are in a critical transitional stage in our life with escalated fear of the unknown.
Fear is a normal feeling when we learn to cope with it by identifying and understanding its sources. However, it can become very disruptive when it exceeds beyond normal.
Negative thoughts from news can produce Fear and Anxiety, which eventually increase the level of Adrenaline and Cortisone. High levels of Adrenaline and Cortisone might weaken your immune system.
1. Get information from reliable resources about the rate of its spread, means of prevention, symptoms, and treatment

2. Think positively based on real facts and recent data

Countries around the world have come together initiating resources to overcome this pandemic.

There is exceptional management of the pandemic in the country.

Recovery rate is relatively high in the UAE.
Positive thinking helps produce good hormones, which make us feel relaxed and calm. This will help us be in control, start to cope and adjust.
3. Balance reactions to manage the escalated fear

Avoid exaggeration
i. Aggressive shopping
ii. Aggressive hand wash and cleaning

Be careful not to minimize the risks
i. Self -care
ii. Follow all health guidelines and avoid risky behavior
4. Apply relaxation and meditation techniques just like:
Deep Breathing

Breathe in slowly through your nose

Hold the air in your lungs

Release the air like you are blowing through a straw
5. Talk about your fear

Talking about your feelings is one of the most powerful ways to know and cope with them.

Tell a trusted person, like a parent, friend, teacher, or counselor what you’re worried about.
6. Practice a Hobby

Do any hobby that you think might distract you from your fear.

Play an instrument, paint, practice a new skill.

Play a game or do anything else that you enjoy.
