The Center for Student Success (CSS) Academic Services
Zayed University provides high quality advising services to support students in their educational journey required to realize a productive, healthy, and sustainable society. The Center for Student Success aligns it values with the UAE’s Sustainable Development Goals to promote quality educational programs, reduce inequalities by promotion diversity, inclusion and belonging to all members of the student population, and encouraging good health and wellbeing. Types of Academic Services Offered in CSS
(1) Advise Special Student Populations
- One-to-one personalized sessions tailored to student academic needs
- Small group sessions focused on common topics of interest
- Major and minor applications/transfer
- Using SAP and ARM functions for student success
- Pre-registration of students
- Referral to campus and off-campus resources as appropriate
- Help students with e-forms and with clear communication
- Help students understand their rights and responsibilities as per University Catalog and University Policies and Procedures
- Maintain clear and accurate advising notes for appeal cases
- Help map out 4-year schedule as well as extracurricular activities to support professional goals and interests
(2) Outreach and Community Engagement
- Offer select academic workshops for students based on need and/or semester timeline
- Provide campus community with data-driven and informed advising information
- Facilitate Majors Day and Campus Resource Fair for students
- Facilitate parent workshops on student success
(3) Liaise with Colleges to Support Majors
- Advise students if faculty-student advising ratio can’t be met
- Assists college administration during add/drop and pre-registration to ensure students are in the correct courses as per their plans and projections.
- Serve as point-persons for college and CSS to ensure accurate information from college
- Prepare academic workshops and training on ARM for college majors (as needed)
- Prepare graduation audits of major students for College Administration
- In collaboration with CSS, prepare faculty training in advising to ensure consistency of advising services across colleges
- Ensure college majors know about CSS services
(4) Coordinate Academic Learning Support
- Al Waha Academic Support Zone offers one-to-one and small group faculty-led tutoring in English writing, comprehension, reading, and speaking.
- Math Café offers student-led tutoring for General Education math courses
- Suggest additional supplemental instruction as needed with major programs
(5) Report advising KPIs to government entities
- Prepare reports to PMO, MOE, and TDRA
- Standardize advising services across university for compliance and quality assurance
- Standardized advising assessments developed centrally and in collaboration with colleges
