Transition to ZU Checklist

Recently admitted

Congratulations again and welcome to Zayed University! From the time you find out you are admitted to the start of classes you may find yourself with lots of questions.

This webpage is your Transition to ZU Checklist. It will provide you with information to help you prepare for your first semester. Below you will find links and explanations to commonly asked questions, as well as information about who to contact with other concerns.

Things to-do after you are admitted:

  • Check ZU's University Calendar for important dates

As a college student you are responsible for keeping track of important deadlines.

The University Calendar helps you by noting important deadlines like when the semester begins, the deadline for withdrawing from classes, and when grades are announced.

Make sure to mark these important dates on your planner each semester.

  • Access your university email account

After you are admitted, the university will use your ZU email account as the primary way to contact you. Through ZU email, you will receive communication from your advisor and professors about registration and your classes, campus announcements about new university policies and programs, and information about special programs and clubs.

  • Purchase a laptop

Before beginning classes you will need to ensure you have a laptop that fits the requirements of your degree program (major).

Courses may require you to attend classes with your laptop in order to complete classroom-based activities and exams.

  • Arrange transportation

Students are responsible for arranging their own transportation to and from campus.

Whichever transportation method you use, please ensure you arrive before your classes begin and are able to remain on campus until the end of your classes for the day.

Being late to classes will not help you be successful in your courses and will result in being marked absent. Too many absences could result in class failure.

Dubai students who will be driving themselves to campus will need to register their car(s) - Click here to register your car(s)

  • Request accommodations for physical or learning difficulties

Contact the Department of Student Accessibility Services (SAS) if you need accommodations for any medical issues or learning challenges.

  • Request accommodations for medical challenges

Contact the Student Counseling Center if you need accommodations for medical issues.

  • Follow-up on requests to transfer credits from other universities (if applicable)

If you have completed courses at another institution in the UAE, then you can choose to request the credits be considered as a part of your ZU degree.

In order to receive transfer credits, please provide the Admission's Department with your transcripts and the course descriptions for each course taken at the previous institution.

Email your transfer credit documents to:
