Staff Work Options

As per the University’s latest announcement, all staff members are required to resume work on campus at 100% capacity.
Only mothers with homeschooled children under the sixth grade are permitted to continue working remotely, upon presenting a certificate from their child’s school.  

PCR & Entry to Campus

All returning employees are required to repeat the PCR test every (7) days, at their own personal expense, except those who have received both doses of the COVID-19 Vaccine (vaccination card or copy of it will be required).  However, employees who are unable to take the vaccine for medical reasons and who have an attested medical report from UAE official health authorities, are eligible for free PCR Testing every (7) days, at the expense of Zayed University.

Quarantine Process


Quarantine Process for Positive COVID-19 and Close Contacts:

  • Any employee who tests positive must quarantine for at least 10 days and monitor how his/her symptoms develop.

  • Any employee who has been in contact with a COVID-19 positive case must follow the steps below:

  1. If the employee has received both doses of the COVID-19 Vaccine, he/she will be required to quarantine for 5 days. The quarantine period will be considered as Remote Work, in accordance with the rules established in this regard.

  2. If the employee has not received both doses of the COVID-19 Vaccine, he/she will be required to quarantine for 10 days. The quarantine period will be deducted from his annual leave balance, if any, otherwise, it will be considered as Unpaid Leave. The employee may be required to perform any tasks assigned to him or her by their line manager during the quarantine period if/as required.

  3. If the employee is exempt from taking the Vaccine, he/she will be required to quarantine for 10 days. The quarantine period will be considered as Remote Work, subject to submitting a medical report for exemption from taking the Vaccine.



Zayed University urge all employees, Faculty and Staff, to refrain from traveling during these challenging times; this is due to the uncertainty of the situation and the constant changing of worldwide travel rules. However, employees who decide to travel will do so at their own risk and they will be held accountable for any adverse consequences. Therefore, all employees must fill in their travel details using the following link:
This is an additional application to capture the travel details only. Employees are still required to follow the normal process of applying for vacation leave on the system and have it approved by their line managers. Employees should keep their direct line manager updated with their status when they are out of the country if something unexpected happens or face any difficulties to return.

Important Notes upon arrival to UAE:

  • COVID - 19 PCR test needs to be taken. The result must be shared with HR by sending email to

  • Employees must place themselves on 14 days of self-quarantine.

  • Working remotely during self-quarantine will be taken into consideration, unless for any deterring medical reasons/conditions and upon pre-approval from the line manager.

  • For Staff, it’s mandatory that employees register their attendance using the following link, if working remotely: Link

  • On completion of 14 days, second COVID test needs to be taken, and the test results must be shared with HR by sending email to before resuming work physically on Campus.

In case a staff or faculty member gets stranded abroad, the University may consider any decision pertaining to employee’s continuity, in order to ensure smooth work functioning.

Please note that the University will unfortunately not be able to assist any stranded employee in terms of communication with any third-party regarding employee’s return to the UAE.

COVID-19 Tracking System

Zayed university has implemented COVID-19 Statistics Tracking System for Students, faculty and staff in order to:

  • Monitor any positive COVID-19 cases among ZU community.

  • Monitor students, Faculty and Staff members who have been in close contact with individuals who have contracted the virus.

  • Track the number of vaccinated members (2 doses) so far, in an attempt to proactively avoid the spread of COVID-19.

  • Keep track of remote working mothers.
