Students interested in the B.Sc. in Information Technology degree can select from two concentrations offered by the Computing and Applied Technology (CAT) Department:

Security and Network Technologies (SecNet): This concentration prepares students to protect and secure information systems from threats and attacks. Students also learn to apply IT in the design and development of secure computer networks and telecommunications.

Web and Mobile Application Development (WAM): This concentration prepares students to develop web and mobile applications. Students learn to apply software engineering concepts to the design and development of user-focused, interactive games and applications.

Accreditation

All our programs are accredited by the UAE Commission for Academic Accreditation (CAA). Our Bachelor of Science program in Information Technology (BSIT), Concentration in Security and Network Technologies, is accredited by the Computing Accreditation Commission of ABET, https://www.abet.org,  under the commission’s General Criteria and Program Criteria for Information Technology. In addition, CTI was ranked by QS as one of the 351-400 top colleges in computer science and information systems in 2023. This ranking places CTI in the top 20 colleges in the Arab region and the top 3 in the nation.

Program Educational Objectives (PEOs)

The Program Educational Objectives for the BSIT program are to produce graduates who will:
1. Become successful information technology specialists distinguished locally and internationally.
2. Be effective communicators, team players, project oriented and community engaged IT professionals with excellent work ethics.
3. Adopt the latest information technologies, applied computing skills, and research methods.
4. Develop lifelong learning skills and continuous involvement in IT professional societies.

Student Outcomes (SOs)

Upon successful completion of this program, students will be able to:
1. Analyze a complex computing problem and apply principles of computing and other relevant disciplines to identify solutions.
2. Design, implement, and evaluate a computing-based solution to meet a given set of computing requirements in the context of the program’s discipline.
3. Communicate effectively in a variety of professional contexts
4. Recognize professional responsibilities and make informed judgments in computing practice based on legal and ethical principles
5. Function effectively as a member or leader of a team engaged in activities appropriate to the program’s discipline
6. Use systemic approaches to select, develop, apply, integrate, and administer secure computing technologies to accomplish user goals.
7. Develop, deploy, and manage security and network solutions to maintain and protect data and digital assets. [SecNet concentration]

Graduation Requirements

Students must complete 120 Credit Hours (CHs) in their selected programs, including 30 CHs of General Education courses, 63 CHs of core program courses, 21 CHs in concentration courses, and 6 CHs of elective courses. As part of the core program requirements, students will crown their program accomplishments with a Senior Project and a practical semester-long Internship.

Students who are admitted before Fall 2024 must complete 120 Credit Hours (CHs) in their selected programs, including 39 CHs of General Education courses, 51 CHs of core program courses, 21 CHs in concentration courses, and 9 CHs of elective courses. As part of the core program requirements, students will crown their program accomplishments with a Senior Project and a practical semester-long Internship.
