Personals, Roles and Reporting Structure
The lab will start with a faculty member serving as Director. The Director will be an existing faculty member from the College of Science. A stipend commensurate with the roles and responsibility will be made in addition to the basic salary of the incumbent. The Director must have an interdisciplinary related higher education background and direct local, regional and international experience. The director will report to the Dean of Sciences, and coordinate with ZU Research Office, and Institute for Community Engagement and the Continuity Education sector. The director will also start a research project within his areas of expertise that is in line with the proposed research elements noted earlier with some seed fund. The director will receive advice and guidance from a joint steering committee from UAE Space Agency. Below are detail outline for the required personals and reporting structure:
1. Board of Directors
A board of directors will be established to set policies and procedures of the lab, oversee the progress of the lab, and approve annual report. The board will consist of members from the industry, UAE Space Agency and representatives from ZU.
2. Directors
The director will be responsible for the organizational and scientific and technical directions of the lab. He/she will work to promote the vision and objectives of the institute and will have the following responsibilities:

Oversee the administrative and technical activities of the lab

Oversee/report the budget of the lab to the Board of Directors; and

Jointly supervise, along with academic department chairs, faculty members with the Institute joint faculty appointments.
The Director will report to the Dean of Science.
3. Supporting Staff
An administrative assistant is needed as supporting staff for the establishment of the lab. At the inception of lab, ZU will support the lab with needed human resources to conduct its activities until the lab gets the fund from UAE Space Agency. Additional supporting staff members such as professional providers could be appointed in the future depending on the development and progress of the lab and after the approval of the board of directors.
4. Faculty Membership
Faculty of Zayed University Colleges will be invited to join the proposed center to facilitate research related to the mission and vision of the lab. The expertise and experience of the center’s faculty membership will also provide capacity for consultancy and outreach.
5. Student Membership
Students will be able to formally associate themselves with proposed center through a student membership scheme, which will provide them access to co-curricular activities and opportunities related to the mission and vision of the lab.
