Research and Professional Activities
Dr. Pramodh completed her PhD in Reproductive Biology from the Stem Cell Biology Lab at National Institute of Research in Reproductive Health, Mumbai, India. Her research focus was on development of strategies for fertility preservation of men with gonadal insufficiency due to chemotherapy. She was able to successfully develop and charachterize a culture system for growth and proliferation of human testicular cells and spermatogonial stem cells. Germ stem cell biology is her core area of interest, especially identification of putative stem cells in discarded testicular biopsies and their differentiation into functional gametes. Concurrent with her focus on reproductive biology, she recently explored knowledge and awareness levels of Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) amongst female Emirati students. Her ongoing research addresses another serious health condition- cervical cancer. She received a research incentive fund to explore role of natural flavonoids such as luteolin in acting as chemo protectant for cervical cancer treatment. Dr. Pramodh’s future endeavors will continue to focus on reproductive health and stem cell biology with special focus on issues concerning UAE.
