Bio

Rafiq Hijazi has a PhD in Statistics from the American University, Washington, DC. He has over 25 years of teaching experience mostly in United Arab Emirates where he served at United Arab Emirates University (2003-2012) and Al Ain University (2012-2019) prior to joining Zayed University in 2019. Over his academic career, he has led and participated in local and international accreditation and program and curriculum development efforts. He has been involved in many interdisciplinary research projects about UAE on labor market, higher education, financial institutions, and public health. His research interests include compositional data analysis, applied statistics, and statistics education in the Arab World.

- Research in applied stats, focusing on Compositional Data Analysis. Worked with teams on projects in economics, finance, education, and health. Promoted stats education and the field locally. Published in peer-reviewed journals; presented at many conferences.
