Currently, Dr. Imen Ben Salem serves as an Assistant Professor in Physics at the College of Natural and Health Sciences, Zayed University, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Dr. Ben Salem is an active member of the CNHS group focusing on teaching, research, instrument fabrication, and with space research team to establish Hyperspectral Remote Sensing Laboratory, which supports research lines in space science, remote sensing, Mars-related manned and unmanned missions, and CO2 storage and sequestration projects. Her research interests include but are not limited to solid and fluid mechanics, multiphase flow studies, theoretical and computational fluid modeling (CFD) with the simulation of chemical kinetics, technological development for energy applications, clean and environmental protection in general, Earth science, planetary science, geophysics, light scattering behavior, etc. 

  • Spring 2020- present: Assistant Professor in Zayed University- Abu Dhabi Campus.

  • September 2018 – May 2019: Visitor Assistant Professor at the University of Science Sfax Tunis.

  • September 2015 – May 2018: Adjunct Assistant Professor at Paris Sorbonne university Abu Dhabi, Sciences and Engineering Department.

  • June 2013 – May 2016: Postdoctoral Researcher at Masdar Institute of Science and Technology in UAE.

  • Spring 2011&2012: Teaching assistant in the Institute of Physics Rennes1- France.

  • Fluid Mechanics: Multiphase flow flows in porous media and trickle bed reactors. Tools: ANSYS Fluent (Computational Fluid Dynamics model based on finite volume method).

  • Petroleum: Tools: Stomp-EOR (Subsurface flow and transport software for Enhanced Oil Recovery), Stomp-CO2 (Subsurface flow and transport software for CO2 sequestration.

  • Instruments: Spectroradiometer/Hyperspectral Camera/ X-Ray Diffraction (XRD)/ Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR)/ UV-Spectroradiometer/ XRF (X-ray fluorescence)/ SEM (scanning electron microscope).
