Bio

Mutaz Mohammad is an Assistant Professor of Mathematics at Zayed University. He received his PhD in Mathematics from Central Michigan University, Mount Pleasant, Michigan in 2015. Mutaz awarded the Outstanding Research Award from Central Michigan University in 2015 for his research in the field of Frame Theory. Mutaz has joined Zayed University as assiatant Professor in August 2016. Prior to that he worked for the American Univeristy of the Middle East in Kuwait. He has over 8 years of experience in teaching Mathematics and statistics at various universities, including: Zayed University, American University of the Middle East, Central Michigan University, King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, and King Saud University.

Mutaz’s current reserach lie in the area of pure as well as applied and computational harmonic analysis. More specifically his research areas are:

  • Construction of tight framelet representations using B-spline and Daubechies scaling functions;
  • Solving Volterra and Fredholm integral equations using framelet expansions;
  • Investigating Gibbs phenomenon in different expansions;
  • Some other applications in computer science and engineering;
  • Some applications in computer and network sciences;
  • Markov chains and convex optimization problems.
