Bio

Dr. Goksu Aslan is an Adjunct Assistant Professor within the CIS at Zayed University. She holds a BA degree in Econometrics, an MSc degree in Statistics, and a PhD degree in Economics Methods. Her research interests revolve around economic growth, income inequality, financial inclusion, and gender inequality. During her PhD, she was a summer intern at the IMF where she worked on gender inequality in financial access and macroeconomic outcomes with a particular focus on sub-Saharan Africa. She has also completed the Advanced Studies Program in International Economic Policy Research at the Kiel Institute for the World Economy. She has been an Instructor of Economics at NYUAD for 5 years in UAE. Before moving to the UAE, she was an Associate Economic Affairs Officer at the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific and a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Milano-Bicocca. Following her BA degree, she also had a couple of years of private sector experience including her one-year banking experience. She is also a competitive rowing athlete and a certified coach who has been rowing and competing for 22 years nationally and internationally. She has several national and regional titles in Turkiye, Italy, and United Arab Emirates. She is a national record holder, and World Rowing Championships finalist.
