Bio

Dr. Elissar Gerges is an Assistant Professor at the College of Interdisciplinary Studies. She holds a Doctor of Education degree in Educational Leadership from The University of Western Ontario and a Master of Education degree in Curriculum Studies and Teacher Development from the University of Toronto, Canada. 

Dr. Gerges has more than 15 years of experience in K-12 and higher education settings. With a deep commitment to improving the quality of teaching and learning experiences for both educators and students, her research interests are related to practice-based research, in the area of SoTL, to inform decisions that lead to advancing evidence-based pedagogies and bridging the gap between education theory and classroom application. 

Dr. Gerges is a strong advocate of science media literacy as an interdisciplinary approach to critically evaluate science in the media. She is a contributing writer in science and education for Intelligent Speculation, The Skeptic, Edutopia, and EducationWorld.
