Bio

Efstathios (Stathis) Polyzos is an Associate Professor of Finance. He holds a Ph.D. (2019) in Finance from the University of the Aegean. He studied Economics at the University of Warwick (B.Sc., 2001) and Banking and Finance at the Open University of Cyprus (M.A., 2014). Additionally, he holds an M.Sc. (2007) in Computer Science from Staffordshire University. He has worked for many years in the banking sector (National Bank of Greece). He was also a freelance consultant and researcher, participating in various FinTech academic and business projects, with extensive experience as a software engineer.

His major fields of interest are financial markets (for traditional and crypto assets), agent-based financial simulations, banking crises and regulation, financial machine learning, and econometric modeling. He has published papers in notable journals, including Energy Economics, Journal of International Financial Markets, Institutions and Money, International Review of Financial Analysis, Economics Letters, Economic Modelling, and Annals of Tourism Research.
